Hi! I'm Marta
Marta was born in Colombia. At the age of 12 she and two of her younger biological siblings were adopted by Bill and Shirley Hammond of Burlington. Marta is fully bilingual and enjoys introducing children to diverse cultures using food, stories, and the Spanish language. In addition to running her business, Marta is a mother of three: Cesar, Emmilia, and Sergio.
Marta has a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from the Community College of Vermont. She has taken courses in Child Development from Champlain College, Trinity College, and through numerous continuing education providers in Vermont. She taught preschool at Christ the King School and the YMCA in Burlington, and Heartworks School in Shelburne. She was the After School Program Director at the Renaissance School in Shelburne, and a Program Director at Rocking Around the Daycare in Essex.
Our Program
Marta's Bilingual Daycare program focuses on building self-respect, empathy, decision making skills, collaboration, respect for diversity, healthy lifestyle choices, and experiential education. Our program is run like a family household, and children learn to work together to support each other.
Children are encouraged to practice independence and cooperative play, and to pursue things that interest them.
We value our time outside, whether playing in the yard or taking walks around our community.
